Hone your critical approach to film and how you communicate your ideas to others in this practical introduction to film criticism
Date and times: Saturday 29 June 2013, 10am-5pm
Overview
It takes more than an encyclopaedic knowledge of film to make a critic. This intensive one-day course will show you how to translate your knowledge of movies into engaging, informative and potentially infuriating reviews. Led by Dave Calhoun, Film Editor of Time Out London, the day will explore different approaches to reviewing in print, online and on both radio and television. Through practical exercises and discussions, you'll learn new ways to critically examine movies and communicate your ideas to different audiences.
This course is equally suitable for beginners and the more experienced, and participants will be given a short viewing list of films to prepare for the day.
Those taking part will be given a optional film review assignment to complete after the class for which they will receive individual feedback.
