This practical one-day masterclass will teach writers and artists how to use a range of social media tools to promote their work

If you produce creative work, you need to find an audience for it. Whether you are a journalist, photographer, artist or author (published, self-published or aspiring), you need to promote your work. The social media revolution offers exciting opportunities to reach new audiences and engage them in fresh ways.

In this one-day masterclass author and social media expert Jon Reed will show you where to begin, demystify the process, and help you tap into online communities of interest. You will learn how to plan your online marketing, and deliver it with social media tools such as blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and more.

This hands-on course includes a mixture of formal teaching and practical activities. It will be held in our Education Suite with access to computers and the Internet, and no prior experience of social media is needed. You will leave the session with a clear social media strategy, a blog and/or other social media you have created during the day, and the confidence to choose and use a range of social media tools to promote your work.

This masterclass will cover how to:

• develop a social media marketing plan
• showcase your work with a blog
• promote your work with social networks
• measure the effectiveness of your marketing.
