Mixing presentations, discussions and practical exercises, this comprehensive course focuses on the practicalities of freelance features journalism, from generating fresh ideas to analysing the market for opportunities and pitching to commissioning editors. There will be regular opportunities to ask questions and an extensive panel discussion to ensure your individual concerns are addressed. Topics covered include:

Tutor profiles
Simone Baird is currently Head of Guardian Masterclasses, the unique programme of learning embedded within one of the world's most forward-thinking media organisations. She was previously features editor at Time Out, and has been a writer and editor for Jockey Slut, Sleazenation, The Face, The List, the Sunday Times Style magazine, NME, Muzik and several Australian broadsheets. In 2009, she co-founded Clever Boxer which offer series of talks and workshops helping people get ahead in the creative industries, and, in 2006, co-founded Trashed, the innovative media project for teenagers in London.
